I love your 5 finger rubric….is it ok to share? I will give all credit where credit is due…:)
Absolutely! Please share, but the credit does not go to me. I think I got it from an Exemplars training years ago. It made so much sense to Turtle and me, that we traced her hand and created this visual five-finger problem solving rubric. It’s great because students have 5 fingers (almost always). Once this becomes routine, you’ll see students pointing to their fingers to check that they’ve done that step to solve the problem.
Well it is awesome! I hope to help teachers in my district become passionate about helping our kids really understand math and have fun with it! We have to move away from the dreaded “drill and kill” and speed drills. That is my goal. Thanks for all the help!! You are an inspiration!
